Two words can sum up this game: “Holy Shit.” It was an amazing journey right from the start all the way to the end of the 15 hours of gameplay.
American McGee does an amazing job of turning the classic children’s story of Alice in Wonderland and twisting into a very dark and complex tale of epic proportions. I did some research along with K Bomb on the “rumours” stating that the real Alice was a drug addict and that the writer, which was her fathers good friend, a pervert. Both of these are just rumours; the book was written while on a boat ride with the two of them making up stories, along with two of Alice’s sisters. The only drug use in the story was that of the caterpillar and it was more of a spiritual use – the “rumoured” LSD in his pipe had not even been created yet. This brought me to be even more amazed by the creativity behind this game and makes me wonder if the game developers were the ones on some heavy stuff.
